Deputy Stops Swerving Car, Driver Admits to Cocaine, Vodka

A sheriff's deputy stopped a black Ford Fusion after observing it drift across the road, according to bodycam footage released by Bodycam Zero. The driver initially attempted to turn off to avoid the deputy before accelerating, prompting the traffic stop.

When the deputy ran the vehicle's plate, it returned registration information for a GMC, not the Ford Fusion being driven.

During the stop, the driver told the deputy she had not been drinking, repeating the claim twice and stating she promised it was true. She then volunteered, without being asked, that the deputy could search her vehicle, repeating the offer a second time.

The driver's account of the evening changed as the stop continued. She told the deputy she had smoked marijuana three and a half hours earlier. She then said she had consumed five shots of vodka. As a deputy approached the vehicle to begin the search, she disclosed what would be found inside the car and where it was located.

Deputies searched the vehicle and recovered cocaine from the center console. A half-empty bottle of vodka was found underneath the driver's seat, consistent with the driver's earlier statements.

The driver refused to perform field sobriety exercises on two separate occasions during the stop. After being read her Miranda rights, she agreed to answer questions from the deputy and responded to all of them.
