NBA Player Dillon Brooks Arrested for Marijuana DUI

Phoenix Suns forward Dillon Brooks was arrested for driving under the influence of marijuana during a traffic stop in Scottsdale on March 6, 2026, at approximately 1:00 AM. Scottsdale Police pulled over Brooks on Scottsdale Road during what began as a routine traffic stop.

According to bodycam footage, the arresting officer reported that Brooks' vehicle smelled like a marijuana dispensary. The NBA player, who is currently sidelined with a fractured hand, cooperated fully with officers during the investigation.

Brooks submitted to field sobriety tests administered by police at the scene. He also took a breathalyzer test, which he passed, indicating no alcohol impairment. Despite passing the breath test, officers arrested Brooks on suspicion of marijuana-related DUI.

The 28-year-old basketball player was transported to Scottsdale City Jail for booking. Brooks was released from custody by 3:30 AM the same morning, approximately two and a half hours after his initial arrest.

Brooks is currently averaging a career-high 20.9 points per game for the Phoenix Suns this season before his injury. The veteran forward has been dealing with a fractured hand that has kept him out of recent games.
