Driver Asks to Call Therapist During Florida DUI Stop

A traffic stop in Flagler County, Florida led to a DUI investigation after a deputy pulled over a driver for failing to maintain her lane, according to body camera footage released by Burner Body Cam.

Deputies reported smelling alcohol coming from the vehicle and noted slurred speech during the stop. The driver admitted she had been drinking earlier in the night but said she was only trying to take a friend home after an argument at a bar.

Throughout the encounter, the driver repeatedly told deputies she trusted law enforcement in general but did not trust them specifically. At one point, she asked deputies if she could call her therapist to help her decide whether to perform field sobriety exercises.

Body camera footage shows the driver attempting the walk-and-turn test. The investigation concluded shortly after the exercise began.
