Georgia Woman Arrested for DUI After Hit and Run
Jamie Arnold was arrested for driving under the influence in Georgia after running a stop sign and leaving the scene of an accident. The incident occurred when Arnold struck a stop sign with enough force to break off a piece of her vehicle, which she left at the scene before driving home.
A police officer arrived at Arnold's residence shortly after the incident, carrying the piece of her car that had broken off during the collision. Arnold's mother answered the door and immediately told the officer that her daughter had been drinking before he could ask any questions.
Arnold emerged from the shower and admitted to consuming "two or three" alcoholic beverages. She consented to field sobriety tests but struggled to complete them successfully, losing count during the walk-and-turn test and apologizing repeatedly to the officer.
During the arrest process, Arnold appeared emotional and apologized to her mother, who responded by telling her daughter she loved her. When the officer asked if she had been arrested before, Arnold laughed and asked if it was obvious, indicating this was her first encounter with law enforcement.
The bodycam footage captured what appeared to be a cooperative interaction between Arnold, her mother, and the responding officer. Arnold's mother described the incident as potentially being "the biggest wake-up call" her daughter could receive.
Arnold faces charges related to driving under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident. No injuries were reported in connection with the stop sign collision.
