James Timmons, 28, of Palm Coast was arrested early Sunday morning after fleeing from deputies and discarding evidence during a traffic stop attempt. The Flagler County Sheriff's Office initiated the stop just after midnight on Belle Terre Boulevard after observing a gold Cadillac sedan with an obstructed license plate.
Despite deputies activating their emergency lights and sirens, Timmons failed to stop his vehicle and continued driving through multiple turns in the Palm Coast area. The pursuit ended when Timmons reached a cul-de-sac on Kaydot Court, where his vehicle became trapped.
As Timmons attempted to turn around in the dead-end street, deputies observed him throwing an object out of his car window. The item was later recovered by law enforcement officers as evidence in the case.
The incident began as a routine traffic enforcement action due to the obstructed license plate violation. However, Timmons' decision to flee from the initial stop escalated the situation and led to additional charges beyond the original traffic violation.
The Flagler County Sheriff's Office has not released details about the specific nature of the evidence that was discarded or the complete list of charges Timmons faces. The case remains under investigation by the department.
