A Palm Coast man was arrested on DUI charges early Sunday morning after crashing his pickup truck into a wooded area while fleeing from deputies in Flagler County, Florida.

At approximately 3:25 a.m. on May 12, Flagler County Sheriff's Deputy Patel observed a gray Ford F-150 driving recklessly westbound on State Road 100 in Bunnell. When Deputy Patel attempted to initiate a traffic stop, the driver refused to pull over and began weaving erratically between lanes.

The pickup truck continued its dangerous path by driving onto the sidewalk near Gospel Gardens before striking a tree. The vehicle then crossed into the eastbound oncoming traffic lane and ultimately crashed into a wooded area off the roadway.

Master Deputy Logsdon made contact with the driver after the crash. The suspect was subsequently arrested on DUI charges, marking his second such offense according to the arrest report.

The incident occurred during the early morning hours when impaired driving enforcement is typically heightened. The reckless driving behavior and flight from law enforcement added additional complications to what began as a routine traffic stop.

No injuries to deputies or other motorists were reported in connection with the incident. The crash caused the vehicle to come to rest in the wooded area after the driver lost control following the tree strike.

The suspect faces charges related to driving under the influence and additional charges may be pending related to the flight from law enforcement and reckless driving.
