Florida Woman Arrested for DUI After Guardrail Crash
A woman was arrested on DUI charges after crashing her truck into a guardrail on Seminole Woods Boulevard in Palm Coast, Florida, and allegedly fleeing the scene on foot. The Flagler County Sheriff's Office responded after witnesses flagged down a deputy and led him to the abandoned vehicle.
When the deputy opened the driver's side door, he found the woman disoriented and partially undressed inside the truck. An empty alcoholic beverage can was visible on the floorboard, according to the video description. A male passenger was also detained at the scene after witnesses told deputies the two may have swapped seats in an attempt to conceal who had been driving.
Bodycam footage shows the woman struggling to get dressed on the roadside as deputies attempted to conduct a field sobriety evaluation. She was unable to complete the standard exercises without nearly losing her balance multiple times.
She was subsequently placed under arrest for driving under the influence with property damage. A breath test administered at the scene reportedly showed a blood alcohol content of .250, more than three times the legal limit of .08 in Florida.
The male passenger, who witnesses said may have attempted to help disguise the actual driver, was released without charges. Footage shows him becoming emotional and pleading with deputies to allow him to remain with the woman as she was taken into custody.
The Flagler County Sheriff's Office handled the scene, which involved a multi-car crash resulting in property damage but no reported injuries. The woman was transported and booked on DUI-related charges following the incident on Seminole Woods Boulevard.
The case remains under the jurisdiction of the Flagler County Sheriff's Office. Formal charges of DUI with property damage have been filed against the driver.
