Woman Arrested After Climbing Into Stranger's Jeep
Charlotte County Sheriff's deputies responded to a disturbance call at an Outback Steakhouse after a woman was reported climbing into a stranger's parked vehicle. The incident was captured on deputy bodycam footage.
Witnesses told deputies the woman, later identified as Morgan Welch, entered the back seat of a parked Jeep Grand Cherokee that did not belong to her before getting back out on her own.
When deputies arrived and began questioning Welch, she denied being intoxicated. She refused to perform field sobriety exercises requested by the responding deputy.
Bodycam footage shows Welch becoming combative with the deputy during the encounter. She was taken into custody at the scene.
Welch was arrested and charged with disorderly intoxication. The Charlotte County Sheriff's Office handled the response and arrest.
The case remains on record with the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office. No additional charges have been reported in connection with the incident.
