Woman Arrested for Pointing Gun During Six-Mile Road Rage Chase
A woman was arrested in Athens, Georgia after allegedly following a stranger for over six miles while pointing a gun at him, with her 4-year-old child in the vehicle. The incident occurred on Barnett Shoals Road when the victim was driving home from work.
According to the 911 call, the woman began aggressively following the victim at a red light, despite the two being complete strangers. The pursuit continued through parking lots, residential neighborhoods, and back roads as the victim provided real-time updates to emergency dispatchers about every turn the woman made behind him.
During the chase, the woman allegedly cut off the victim, screamed racial slurs, and pulled up beside his vehicle. The victim reported seeing what appeared to be a silver handgun and noticed a child in the car without a car seat. Despite having his own legal firearm, the victim chose not to draw his weapon due to the presence of the child.
Officers intercepted the woman's vehicle and conducted a high-risk traffic stop at gunpoint. When questioned by police, the woman provided a version of events that contradicted the victim's account and the details captured in the 911 recording.
The incident was recorded on police body cameras, which documented the arrest and the conflicting statements given by both parties. The 911 audio recording served as key evidence in determining which account was accurate.
The woman faces charges related to the road rage incident and weapons violation. The case remains under investigation by Athens-Clarke County police.
