Woman Charged With DUI After Fleeing Crash Scene

Deputies responded to a chain-reaction crash on March 28, 2025, after a driver rear-ended stopped traffic at an intersection, according to bodycam footage obtained via public records request.

Witnesses told deputies the at-fault driver, identified in the footage as Sam, exited a white Toyota appearing visibly impaired. She was heard repeating that the crash was her fault before walking away from the scene into a nearby Walgreens, leaving before deputies arrived.

One driver involved in the crash was transported to a hospital with neck injuries. An elderly passenger in another vehicle was left shaken but not injured, according to the report.

Deputies located the woman outside the Walgreens a short time later. When questioned, she admitted she had been looking down at her phone, texting her ex, when the traffic light turned green, causing her to strike the vehicles ahead.

During the encounter, deputies noted the odor of alcohol and other signs of impairment. Field sobriety tests were attempted but were marked by an emotional response from the woman and repeated refusals to fully comply.

Based on the observations at the scene and her admissions regarding the crash, the woman was arrested. She was charged with driving under the influence and leaving the scene of a crash involving injuries.

The case remains under review by local prosecutors. Charges include DUI and leaving the scene of an accident with injuries.
