Florida Driver Arrested with Open Wine Bottles, BAC Over Triple Legal Limit
A 60-year-old woman was arrested for driving under the influence in Flagler County, Florida on October 17, 2025, after deputies observed her swerving across lanes and discovered multiple wine bottles in her vehicle.
A Flagler County sheriff's deputy initiated the traffic stop after witnessing the driver repeatedly cross lane markings, swerve toward the grass shoulder, and drift into adjacent lanes. During the initial contact, the deputy observed signs of impairment and spotted an open wine container inside the vehicle.
A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed multiple empty and unopened mini wine bottles. The driver struggled to complete basic tasks, including locating her insurance documentation, prompting officers to request field sobriety exercises.
After conducting the standardized field sobriety tests, deputies determined the woman was impaired and placed her under arrest. Body-worn camera footage captured the entire interaction from the initial traffic stop through the arrest.
At the Flagler County jail, the suspect submitted to breath alcohol testing. The results showed blood alcohol concentrations of 0.247 and 0.238, both more than three times Florida's legal limit of 0.08 for drivers.
The case demonstrates the dangers of impaired driving and the effectiveness of law enforcement's detection methods during routine traffic enforcement. The suspect faces charges of driving under the influence based on the documented evidence and test results.
