Former Police Officer Arrested for DUI by Ex-Colleagues
Former Sierra Vista police officer Daryl Hall was arrested for driving under the influence by his former colleagues during a traffic stop in southern Arizona. Hall was initially pulled over for using his cell phone while driving and failing to move over for a patrol vehicle.
The arresting officer did not immediately recognize Hall as a former coworker from the same department. What followed was a lengthy DUI investigation lasting nearly 90 minutes, during which Hall employed various tactics to avoid accountability.
Hall demanded multiple tests including a breathalyzer and additional field sobriety tests after initially refusing the first one. He requested to speak with the watch commander and invoked what he called "the brotherhood" among law enforcement officers. Throughout the encounter, Hall name-dropped a Medal of Valor that his arresting officer had earned in a 2024 officer-involved shooting.
During the investigation, Hall alternated between flattery and insults toward the officers. He told the arresting officers he had "forgotten more about police work" than they would ever know, later calling one officer a "clown," then offering "mad respect" for the same officer's Medal of Valor minutes afterward.
At the police station, Hall confirmed his blood alcohol content was 0.13, more than 1.5 times the legal limit of 0.08. He continued directing the officers on procedures and requesting specific tests throughout the booking process.
Hall faces charges related to driving under the influence in Arizona.
