School Secretary Charged with Child Seduction of Students
Alicia Hughes, a secretary at Randolph Central Schools in Union City, Indiana, was arrested on Valentine's Day 2026 following allegations of inappropriate relationships with students. Hughes faces five counts of child seduction, a Level 5 felony under Indiana law.
The investigation began when Hughes' husband allegedly discovered her with an 18-year-old student at their home. During police interrogation, Hughes admitted to having a physical relationship with the student, according to the charges filed against her.
Detectives also confronted Hughes about a second alleged victim, a 17-year-old student. The charges indicate Hughes met with this student at a local parking lot and sent explicit photos. Under Indiana's child seduction statute, these actions constitute felony offenses when committed by a person in a position of authority or trust with students.
During questioning, Hughes attempted to justify her actions by citing alleged abuse from her husband and claimed she "never meant to be a horrible person." She also reportedly tried to minimize her involvement with the younger student during the interrogation.
Indiana law defines child seduction as sexual conduct between a person in authority and a student, regardless of the student's age. The statute recognizes the inherent power imbalance between school employees and students, making consent legally irrelevant in such cases.
Hughes remains charged with five counts of child seduction. The charges are accusations and she is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
