Woman Arrested on Warrant During Traffic Stop in Carpentersville

A woman was arrested on an outstanding warrant during a traffic stop in Carpentersville, Illinois, after an officer noticed her rear license plate was bent and her vehicle had no front plate, a violation of Illinois law requiring both.

During the stop, the woman questioned why she had been pulled over and initially declined to identify herself, telling the officer she was recording the interaction. She said she had lost her wallet, which contained her driver's license and state identification, and offered to show her license through an app on her phone.

A records check by officers revealed a valid no-bond warrant out of DuPage County for failing to appear in court. Officers informed her she was under arrest and asked her multiple times to exit her vehicle.

Once she was handcuffed, the woman told officers the cuffs were too tight and causing her severe pain. Officers responded that they were able to fit a finger between the cuff and her wrist even with a glove on, and asked her to stop tensing her arms.

The woman continued to protest the arrest, telling officers she had not broken any law and threatening to sue them. Officers parked and locked her vehicle before transporting her to the Carpentersville police station.
