Woman Faces Felony Theft Charge After 12 Target Incidents
A woman was detained at a Target store in Florida after loss prevention staff reported watching her swap price tags and conceal cosmetics in her purse, according to bodycam footage released by Bodycam Zero. The alleged theft on the day of the incident totaled $116.
Store records reviewed by loss prevention showed 12 documented theft incidents involving the woman, with at least five occurring within a 90-day period. Under Florida law, three or more retail theft offenses within 120 days can elevate the charge from a misdemeanor to a felony.
Investigators noted that the woman allegedly used the same vehicle, a gray Audi, to travel to the store during each of the prior incidents. Because of this pattern, officers on scene indicated they may seek forfeiture of the vehicle under Florida statutes allowing seizure of property used in the commission of a felony.
When asked about the repeated thefts, the woman offered a brief explanation, citing “hard times” and stating she was in a “learning lesson.”
The footage, obtained through a public records request, shows the detention and questioning process but does not include narration. Bodycam Zero states that all individuals featured in its videos are presumed innocent unless convicted in a court of law.
The case remains under review as authorities determine whether felony charges will be formally filed in connection with the pattern of alleged retail thefts.
