During the arrest process, deputies discovered Shields was in possession of a vape pen that she claimed contained Delta-8, a legal hemp derivative. However, field testing revealed the substance tested positive for THC, indicating it contained illegal marijuana instead of the legal alternative she claimed.

The Flagler County Sheriff's Office charged Shields with misuse of the 911 emergency system following the repeated hang-up calls to dispatchers. Additional charges related to the THC-positive vape pen were also filed.

Shields' behavior during the arrest was described as erratic by responding officers. The incident began with her removal from the courthouse and continued to escalate through the multiple emergency calls and subsequent arrest.

Shields faces charges for misuse of 911 and drug possession in Flagler County.
