Deputies Investigate Conflicting Domestic Disturbance Claims in Flagler County

Flagler County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a late-night domestic disturbance call at a duplex on Palm Harbor Parkway involving conflicting accounts between two roommates.

A woman returned home intoxicated from a night out and went to her male roommate's upstairs bedroom. The woman claimed they were together and that he kicked her down the stairs, while the male roommate denied any physical altercation occurred. He stated she arrived uninvited and attempted unwanted physical contact.

Deputies noted that the woman's account of how she ended up at the bottom of the stairs changed multiple times during their investigation. The conflicting statements made it difficult for law enforcement to determine what actually transpired.

Officers attempted to separate both parties for the evening to de-escalate the situation. Despite owning both units of the duplex, the woman refused to go to her own bedroom in the adjacent unit, even though she expressed fear for her safety. She demanded that deputies arrest her roommate and send him to a hotel.

The woman became increasingly agitated during the investigation, threatening to call 911 while deputies were present at the scene. Officers warned her against making unnecessary emergency calls.

The situation continued to escalate as deputies worked to resolve the domestic disturbance. Due to the contradictory statements from both parties, officers were unable to establish probable cause for any charges at the scene.
